About the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences

Dr. Clayton NicksWelcome to the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at Columbus State University. We serve approximately 700 students and offer several academic programs preparing students for a variety of health-related professions. Our faculty are committed to ensuring student success through rigorous academic programs and hands-on learning experiences.

Undergraduate students can choose from a variety of programs including the B.S. in Kinesiology with concentrations in Exercise Science and Health & Physical Education, as well as the B.S. in Health Science. For students pursuing graduate studies, we offer a Master of Public Health, M.S. Kinesiology, and a M.A.T. in Health & Physical Education - all fully online. Qualified student graduates may go on to attend graduate medical programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant, or a variety of other graduate school options.

The department also offers Lifetime Wellness (KINS 1106) and other physical activity courses for CSU undergraduate students. The human physiology lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology including the Quark CPET Metabolic Cart (COSMED Inc.), ), Lunar Prodigy DXA (G.E.), SphygmoCor XCEL PDA (Cardiex), Bod Pod (COSMED Inc.), Excalibur Sport Anaerobic Power System (LODEBV), True-One 2410 Metabolic Measurement System (ParvoMedic), LOGIQ Ultrasound (GE), Ergomedic 894E Peak Bike (Monark), Quinton Q4500 Stress Test System, Accupower portable force plate, and more.

Our home office is located on the main campus Lumpkin 250, with other offices in the Health & Wellness building (Exercise Science) and Frank Brown Hall (Health Science and Public Health). Please reach out with any questions you may have.
